Herring Gull In Placentia Bay

Herring gulls are large, noisy gulls found throughout the year around our coasts and inland around landfills. Since the codfish moratorium and with the closure of fish plants, these birds are finding it harder to find food. While fishing in Placentia Bay last summer, hundreds of these sleek birds trailled our boat looking for handouts - giving me the opportunity for a great photograph. Posted by Picasa
