Lonely Sentinel - Cape Spear lighthouse
Cape Spear lighthouse once guarded the most easterly point of North America. Now it stands as a lonely reminder of our maritime heritage on a cold and windswept bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Lonely -- yes, I'd say so. There's nothing but ocean as far as the eye can see in most directions. Accustomed as I am to my landlocked life here in the middle of the North American continent, I can hardly imagine such a place.
